We are strengthening our Group Legal & Governance team and therefore we are seeking a Legal Counsel based in Delft, The Netherlands. The Legal Counsel will support the Head of Group Legal & Governance in building the Group Legal function and he/she will also cooperate with legal teams of Inter IKEA Group’s three core businesses headquartered in The Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden.
We are looking for a hands-on and all-round Legal Counsel that has an overall, in-depth knowledge of certain legal issues, ideally with expertise in the area of corporate law, competition law and/or data privacy. Besides that, you have experience in optimizing the way legal teams function, e.g. in respect of procedures, systems and tools. You have a practical and can-do mindset and you like to pick up the pen, and start creating. You like to work together with others, to lead projects and to together further strengthen the legal function. In addition, you like to develop yourself and to quickly make new legal areas your own.
If you are a qualified lawyer (LLM) with at least 5 years proven working experience in the Netherlands, gained at a premier law firm and/or a multinational combined with being a flexible and collaborative team member who thrives in a fast pace and transforming environment, come and join Inter IKEA Group.
About the job
You will be providing support to the Head of Group Legal & Governance in all legal matters and affairs. This includes advising stakeholders on group level on different legal matters (with a focus on e.g. corporate law, M&A, finance, competition law, privacy/data protection matters). And it will also entail the further development of Legal Operations to enable the legal departments to optimise their operations for example by enhancing the legal infrastructure (processes, tools, technology platforms) and reporting across the core businesses and legal departments.
Other tasks would be:
- Leading projects and networks of expertise that are of group-wide importance, often in multiple jurisdictions.
- Updating and further implementing legal compliance initiatives e.g. in the field of competition law.
- Leading and working closely together with legal peers across Inter Ikea Group to strengthen and contribute to a strong and relevant legal function.
- A pragmatic, flexible and business-oriented approach, while thoughtfully managing legal and compliance risks;
- Broad business perspective and ability to quickly gain understanding of business situations and identify root-causes;
- Confidence and ability to effectively manage complex situations with internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to create trust, build strong networks and relationships by being a team player who embraces collaboration with cross-functional teams in a diverse global business.
You need to be fluent in English; Dutch and/or Swedish is a plus.
